Field Contacts in Hatay and Visit to the Medical Chamber by the DAYAN Project Team

As part of the DAYAN Project fieldwork, our researchers Dr. Sevim Coşkun and Int. Dr. Fatih Bilgili carried out institutional visits and scientific contacts in Hatay between September 26 and 28, 2025. The program was planned to reach potential participants and strengthen cooperation with professional organizations in the region.

On the first day, Hatay Medical Chamber was visited. Accompanied by former Hatay Medical Chamber President Dr. Sadik Nazik, the team met with Hatay Medical Chamber President Dr. Sevdar Yilmaz, Turkish Medical Association Central Council Member Dr. Ali Kanatli, Dr. Umit Ogur from the Hatay Medical Chamber Board, and other chamber members. The aims and expected outputs of the DAYAN Project were presented in detail; the Hatay Medical Chamber's evaluations and expectations regarding the project were received, and possible collaborations were discussed. It was also agreed in principle to meet again with the relevant administrators after the research is completed to share the findings.

During the visit program, the project team also attended the Turkish Medical Association III Antiochia Philosophy Gathering titled "Solidarity Through Humor," held at the Hatay Chamber of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Advisors. The forum "Trauma, Humor, Memory," held as part of the event, was closely followed in order to observe the dynamics of the field. Throughout the events, the team met with medical chamber presidents, branch presidents, physicians, and aid organization volunteers coming from surrounding provinces, and introduced the DAYAN Project.

In addition to the official contacts, the social interactions with colleagues in the region made an important contribution to strengthening solidarity and improving field communication networks. As the DAYAN Project, we thank Dr. Sadik Nazik, the Hatay Medical Chamber administration, and all colleagues who supported the fieldwork for their hospitality and contributions in helping our research reach a wider group of healthcare workers.
